Best Time to Visit Kashmir

The ideal time to visit Kashmir in winter is from mid-December to mid-February. During this period, the region transforms into a stunning white wonderland, with heavy snowfall creating a magical landscape. Winter officially begins in December, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures and snowfall, particularly in higher-altitude areas like Gulmarg

January is the peak of winter, making it the perfect time for snow sports and activities. Dal Lake often freezes during this month, offering a rare opportunity for ice skating. In February, the snow conditions remain excellent, with slightly warmer days and more daylight, making it ideal for outdoor adventures.

Winter temperatures typically range from -2°C to 10°C (28°F to 50°F). After a fresh snowfall, the skies often clear, revealing breathtaking views—perfect for photography enthusiasts. Be sure to pack proper winter clothing and gear to stay comfortable.
While some offbeat locations may remain difficult to access due to snow, popular destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Srinagar come alive during this season. From thrilling activities like skiing and snowboarding to serene shikara rides, there’s something for everyone. Winter festivities also add to the charm of the season.

For an authentic winter holiday experience in Kashmir, plan your visit between December and mid February. You’ll be treated to powdery snow, exhilarating activities, and unforgettable memories.
