Located at a distance of about 50 km from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi village, the Prashar Lake lies at an altitude of 2730 m above sea level. It is believed that sage Prashar meditated on the banks of this lake. Hence it is named as Prashar Lake. It has a little floating island in between the lake which keeps on revolving and changes its position at regular intervals which is quite unique. It is believed by the locals that this lake symbolizes the science of the Earth with the floating island, representing that the Earth is rotating on its on axis as well as moving around the lake according to the season.

The depth of the lake has not been determined yet. Locals say that once they have seen big trees drowning in water due to a storm and that too without leaving a trace on the outer surface. Infact about some years ago, group of scientist came with diving instrument and high tech machines to solve the mysteries of this lake, but could not reach the bottom.

Age recommendations: Anyone can do this trek from a minimum age of 6 years to 65 years, but it is necessary to be physically fit to do this trek. This trek will be a relief and joy for first-time visitors. This trek will surely inculcate new energy and confidence in you.

Activity details

Day 1

Drive from Delhi to Mandi

The group will assemble at the pickup point at 08:00 PM. Afterwards we'll start for an overnight journey towards Mandi, Himachal Pradesh soon after that. We'll take a mid-way stoppage for dinner which will be at your own expense.

Day 2

Mandi to Baggi & thereafter Trek to Prashar Lake

We'll reach Mandi by Morning. Afterwards, we'll drive from Mandi to Baggi, which is about two hours away. Upon reaching, we'll directly start trekking up to Prashar Lake campsite.

Relax at the camp and spend your time in the nature and with the group.

Dinner will be served at night time.

Day 3

Parashar lake to Baggi & then overnight bus for Delhi

Start your day with the healthy breakfast and

Afterwards, we'll trek up to the Prashar Lake. Upon reaching, we'll enjoy the views and everything that surrounds Prashar Lake. Afterwards, We'll trek down to Baggi once again. From Mandi, we'll board again for Delhi for an overnight journey.

Day 4

We'll be reaching Delhi by 7 AM. Everyone leaves with a set of happy memories and promises to meet soon for the next trek with Kashti Adventures.

Before starting the journey to Parashar Lake Trek, make sure that you need payments, and then take out the cash on the way from Mandi to Baggi.

Some interesting facts about the Prashar Lake are that a round, floating island can be found inside it. This is actually a common, natural phenomenon that occurs all around the world. The island continues floating due to the oxygen in the plants’ roots. This land moves in all directions and it covers 7% of the lake’s area. It is unclear how deep it goes as a diver is not able to determine its true depth. The history of Prashar Lake goes deep. It’s considered sacred to the sage Prashar. It is said that he meditated with the deep, blue waters.

Season Time

The majority of trekkers visit during the summer. However, tourism of Prashar Lake never falters as quite a few people come to witness the frozen lake in the winter months as well. The best way to reach Prashar Lake is to first reach the town of Mandi. This town is situated at a distance of about 415 km from Delhi. Once you reach the town, you’ll have to take the narrow and long road that’ll take you to the top of the hill. This is where the lake is located on.
