The Great Lakes Trek or Kashmir Great Lakes Trek(KGL) commercially known as Sonamarg-Vishansar-Naranag Trek is an alpine himalayan high-altitude trek in the Kashmir Valley  in the Indian state of J&K. This is the most famous trek in Kashmir. The trek is usually completed in 7-8 days and is rated as moderate-difficult in terms of terrain and trail difficulty. The trek is an absolute treat and worth every effort as one gets to see new alpine lakes, mountain peaks, passes, meadows and glaciers almost every subsequent day.

Activity details

• Reach Srinagar and get welcomed by our representatives
• Experience at Dal Lake and Mughal Gardens
• Afternoon drive to Sonmarg by evening
• Spend overnight at a campsite in Sonmarg

• Breakfast at the guesthouse, start with a 3-4km trek from the Sonamarg.
• Hike through the forests, you will be rewarded with the stunning views of the Sonamarg Valley and pictorial streams.
• Relax around for a while before you start trekking towards the Nichnai
• Dinner and overnight stay in the Nichnai camp.

• Starting early in the morning towards Nichnai Pass
• You will be seeing a lot of meadows on your way
• Overnight stay in the camp at Vishansar Lake

• Start trekking from the Kishansar lake. The Gadsar lake is situated at an altitude of 11811 feet.
• Cross the Gadsar pass. While you are crossing the Gadsar pass you will be seeing a lot of small lakes and valleys beyond the LOC.
• You will reach Gadsar lake by early afternoon.
• After reaching there the army camps will check your original id cards.
• After reaching Gadsar stay there for the night and rest.

• Satsar lake is at an altitude of 11482 feet which is 12 kilometers of trek..
• After few minutes of walk you will be seeing the Satsar lake.
• Satsar is a group of 7 lakes which are interconnected and is situated in a narrow alpine valley. The lake drains out in Wangath Nalla which is a holy shrine to Sindhs.
• Rest here for the nigh

• Trek to Gangabal lake which is at an height of 11482 feet and at a distance of 13 kilometers.
• While trekking be careful of loose rocks. You will be seeing the twin lakes which are the Gangabal and Nandkol.
• Camping and rest for the day

• Trek to Naranag is 11 kilometers
• The trek is mostly descent and you will reach faster
• Today you will be crossing the beautiful pine forest. You will also be seeing some yellow flowers.
• Naranag to Srinagar with wonderful memories

Before starting the journey to Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, make sure that you need payments, and then take out the cash on the way the 1st Camp.

The phone does not work on this trek. Therefore, you should ensure that you do not have to make any important calls. So make sure you finish all your important work and calls before starting the trek.
