5 Best WILDLIFE TREKS in INDIA that you must do

Are you tired of the mountain and beach treks already? Don’t worry, we have got you covered and present to you ‘wildlife treks! Wildlife treks are the lesser explored but are definitely being opted for more as of recently because of how adventurous it gets when you are quite literally in the arms of mother nature. Everything is very raw with the hint of petrichor in the air, the sweet sound of the birds chirping and the small streams that flow as you walk deep into the wildlife. So, we have curated a list of some of the best wildlife treks in India.

1. Chembra, Wayanad, Kerala

One of the tallest peaks of the western ghats, the Chembra peak trek is located in the scenic hills of Wayanad and offers some of the best wildlife landscape while you trek through the lush green forest. Located at a height of 2100 m, you will get to experience a little bit of steep climbing but won’t be too strenuous on you. Hence, it is quite famous among beginner trekkers as well. If you are looking for a day trek then this is it since it takes only 5-6 hours to complete this trek. The highlight of this trek is the love-shaped lake which is situated near the top of the peak. The best time to do this trek is during the months of September- February.

 

2. Talle Valley, Arunachal Pradesh

Talle Valley is located in Arunachal Pradesh which is one of the most blessed states in terms of wildlife and lush-green landscape. Due to still being largely untouched, true explorers and adventurers are starting to trek in this undiscovered valley and experience the true essence of being deep in the wildlife surrounded by just nature, so much nature!

The valley is covered with thick forests with a variety of species such as bamboo forests which is quite unique to this region. It is advised to take your time while completing this trek and give yourself at least 2-3 days. The trek is more famous among the intermediate trekkers as it does require some prior experience but don’t let that stop you because you never know what’s in store for you. The best time to trek the valley is from October- April because this is when the region is in full bloom with meadows and lush-green patches of forests. 

3. Mudumalai National Park, Tamil Nadu

Mudumalai National Park is already famous among tourists taking jeep safaris through the national park but recently it has also started to come up as a popular wildlife trekking spot for nature lovers. It’s a great choice among beginners since it’s not hard on your body at all and can be done by all age groups. The best of landscapes scattered with trees and banana plantations makes it a really memorable experience. And once you reach the peak, you get to see a breathtaking view of the entire Mudumalai region. The trek takes not more than 3 hours to be completed so it’s a pretty easy day trek. The best time to visit this is during December to February. 

4. Agumbe Reserve Forest, Karnataka

Made popular after the release of the Malgudi days by R.K Narayan, this region is blooming with thick green forests and lively wildlife. As Monsoon starts, this region is the most alive and it booms with the best of the landscape and an array of different species. Due to it being rather dense and a path that must be taken with care, it is still largely unexplored but it’s time for people to quite literally take the road less travelled. Trekkers looking for some thrill and adventure must trek into this region as it is really worth it. The forest provides many trails but one of the most famous trails is Narasimha Parvatha trek, which takes 5-6 hours to complete and is an easy one. The best time to trek here is October to february.

5. Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh

This is one of the most popular national parks in India that is visited by a huge number of people throughout the year. This popularity has also increased due to the fact that it’s home to jungles of Seoni, where the famous work of Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling is set. Not only this, Kanha national park is also the largest national park in India and is a shelter for tigers, leopards and many more. You might just spot one during your trek so it’s always advised to take a guide with you. Along with the animals, the landscape that it offers really makes it worth it. It is only recently that nature and trek enthusiasts have started to see this place as a wildlife trekking spot and the credit for the same could also be given to the jungle book movie that was released a couple of years back. The best time to visit this place is from October to the end of june.
